Virus makes leap from PC to PDA
http://news.com.com/Virus+makes+leap+from+PC+to+PDA/2100-1029_3-6044457.html?tag=nefd.top
A group of security researchers claims to have found the first virus that can jump to a mobile device after infecting a PC.
The malicious software, dubbed "Crossover," was sent anonymously to the Mobile Antivirus Researchers Association, the group said in a statement released on Monday. The virus is a proof-of-concept bug and was not released in the wild, meaning that it doesn't pose an actual risk for PC and device users.
"Crossover is the first malware to be able to infect both a Windows desktop computer as well as a PDA running Windows Mobile for Pocket PC," the research group said.

AOL sues alleged phishing rings

The online division of Time Warner said Tuesday it had filed three civil suits in Alexandria's U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, charging the three groups with tricking AOL members with fake Web sites of legitimate companies to fool them into giving up personal information.
The suits were filed under Virginia's new antiphishing statute, a federal trademark law called the Lanham Act, and a federal antispam law called the Federal Computer Fraud & Abuse Act.
AOL said they were the first suits filed by an Internet service provider under the Virginia law passed in July 2005.

PayPal Password-stealing Trojan Mass Mailed
http://news.yahoo.com/s/cmp/20060228/tc_cmp/181400555
U.K.-based BlackSpider Technologies said that it had already intercepted more than 3.2 million messages with an attached Trojan, and claimed that it took 52 hours for the first anti-virus vendor to issue a signature that detected and deleted the malware.
Clagger.h, as Sophos dubbed it (Symantec named it "PWSteal.Tarno.s"), comes with the subject head of "Notification: Your Account Temporally Limited," and targets PayPal users. The associated e-mail claims that PayPal has detected unusual activity on the recipient's PayPal account. If the user opens the attached file, Clagger.h silently installs.
Not only does Clagger.h set a backdoor so the attacker can later add more malicious code to the PC, but it lurks in the background and nabs usernames and passwords from any window or Web page with text strings ranging from "cash" and "bank" to "log" and "id."

Virus promises nude Paris Hilton pics
http://www.pcmag.co.uk/vnunet/news/2151349/hackers-try-legal-challenge

A new worm is spreading over the internet using a variety of social engineering techniques, including pretending to be a legal summons or offering pictures of Paris Hilton.
Bagle-DO spreads in emails with subject lines such as 'Pay your debts before we come to you', 'Call to your lawer [sic] immidiately [sic]', 'Lawsuit against you,' and 'We wait your response'.
The emails urge the recipient to open the attached file, which can be called 'lawsuit.exe', 'explanation.exe' or 'documents.exe'. If executed the worm installs itself on the PC and looks for other computers to infect.
